The invention relates to a method of marking the orientation of faceplates 6 of three-colour cathode-ray tubes, making it possible to check the orientation of the plates 6 in whatever manufacturing stage. The method consists in forming a mark 35 on at least one predetermined side 36 of the plate 6. The mark 35 is optically contrasted with respect to the plate 6 so as to be detected visually or automatically. IMAGE
