The invention consists in manufacturing charcoal starting with a minimum of two ovens made of reinforced concrete 1 and 2, joined together by an incinerator 3 in which the smoke and the pyrolysis gases are collected and burnt 4. While the energy thus obtained in the incinerator is recovered in the form of hot air, a proportion is reinjected 5 with the aid of a fan into the oven number 1 which, for its part, is lit. The other proportion of the energy is reinjected into the oven number 2 which, for its part, is extinguished, via the same device 6, but will be used only to predry the wood.
