The engine consists of two similar modular units, one forming a compressor and one forming a motor. Each module includes a stator cylinder (1), in which a rotor (5) turns about a central axis (10). The rotor has a semi-cylindrical, semi-elliptical configuration which forms an elongate gas space between itself and the cylinder wall. The cylinder wall includes inlet and exhaust valves (3) synchronised with the rotor motion, and an ignition plug (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - I.c. engine with no reciprocating moving parts.
