Control system for transmitting task-orientated information - uses AM. signals to send binary information from microprocessor-base control unit to utilisation circuits
A central installation consisting of a microprocessor with a parallel series converter is connected to peripheral units via a transmission line. The converter output is transmitted to the line using amplitude modulation produced from a binary stream by a transmission unit and an oscillator. The transmission line is a three core cable consisting of ground, transmit signal and receive signal wires. The transmit signal wire also supplies current to the peripherals. The peripherals receive the signal via a capacitor feeding a signal processor circuits which feeds a utilisation circuit. On successful execution the peripheral signals via a transistor which drops the voltage fed to a comparator in the central unit. The comparator output is fed back to the microprocessor. The central unit is very complex with many circuit cards. ADVANTAGE - Replaces many cables and relays or complicated bus circuit. Automatic feedback. Free from industrial interference.
