The invention relates to peptides capable of forming an immunological complex with antibodies to protein F from a retrovirus capable of causing LAS or AIDS, characterised in that they contain at most 40 amino acids and possess an amino acid sequence corresponding to the C-terminal part of the protein F from an HIV or to a variant of this sequence, however such that it is immunologically recognised by antibodies to protein F from HIV retroviruses.
