A pocket size multipurpose data search and digital processing device having function of English-Chinese dictionary including a matrix keyboard, 9, a single chip microprocessor, 1, a data memory, 2, LCD drivers, 3, 4, an automatic power control circuit, 7, and a dot matrix LCD, 5, wherein the front panel includes regular calculator operational keys, letter keys from A to Z, shift control keys respectively for up, down, left and right shifting control, and function keys, and also includes various mode explanations indicated on the upper side above the dot matrix LCD; and wherein the dot matrix LCD is divided into five lines for respective display, and with the top line arranged for bar control to indicate mode explanation by means of a cursor; and characterized in that dictionary, unit conversion, formula search and calculation functions are selectably executed through the matching of the dot matrix LCD with the operation of the function keys and the shift control keys.
