WOVEN FABRIC HAVING HIGH LATERAL STRETCHABILITY AND RESISTANCE TO WASHING SHRINKAGE

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject woven fabric made of natural raw material and fitting to the body by softening sericin in the surface layer of a raw silk, applying a specific single twist to the raw silk under tension, fixing the twist, weaving a fabric using the silk as a weft with low weaving density of warp, degumming the fabric and shrinking and drying the product. CONSTITUTION:Glutinous sericin 2 covering the circumference of a silk fiber fibroin 1 is softened by boiling in water and the treated silk fiber is applied with single twist of =2,000 turns per meter under tension and dried to fix the twist. A fabric is woven by using the silk fiber as a weft at a warp density of =70% of that of the finished fabric and is degummed to dissolve and remove the sericin and allow the fabric to shrink in the direction of weft. The degummed fabric is dried to obtain the objective woven fabric.
