PURPOSE:To allow the highly efficient and inexpensive recovery of metal elements by utilizing the hydrous gel compsn. consisting of astringent persimmon-aldehyde or acid water as an adsorbent for noble metals, etc. CONSTITUTION:The hydrous gel compsn. consisting of the astringent persimmon- aldehyde-water, astringent persimmon-acid-water exhibits the excellent affinity to the noble elements such as gold, silver and Pd and the metal element such as Ga, V, Cr, Mo, W and Zr and are capable of adsorbing these metal elements at a high rate. The metal elements are, therefore, efficiently adsorbed and recovered if a soln. contg. the above-mentioned metal elements is brought into contact with the above-mentioned hydrous gel compsn. by a column method or batch method. The above-mentioned hydrous gel compsn. is obtd. by using the astringent persimmon which is one of natural resources and is available a low cost as a raw material and by a simple production process.
