PURPOSE:To significantly reduce the manual procedures required for cooking by having the microwave oven having a bar code reader read the cooking condition code given to the processed-food and then performing the cooking as directed. CONSTITUTION:The bar code 2 attached to the exterior of the container 1 having a processed-food in it includes a code for cooking conditions peculiar to each food to be heated by a microwave oven 3, and a bar code reader 4 is connected to the microwave oven 3. When the bar code 2 is read by the bar code reader 4, a micro-computer 5 reads the cooking information that matches the cooking code contained in the bar code 2 from a cooking conditions memory device 6, and causes a magnetron control device 7 to control the oscillation of a magnetron 8. The magnetron is thus controlled its output and operation time. Therefore, the user can set a suitable operations mode of the microwave oven 3 by merely having the bar code 2 on the processed-food container 1 read.
