PURPOSE: To simplify the system without increasing the weight of the system by providing a cooling unit, which supplies cooling gas into the inside of a generator, making the stream of the lowest temperature gas flow to both ends of a bore-pack exciter at the highest speed, and returning the cooling gas after passing into the inside of the exciter to the generator. CONSTITUTION: At the top part of a generator 1, cooling devices 14 and 15, which extract heat from the gas flowing in the generator 1, is attached. Fan blades 18 and 19 are rotated, together with a rotor 3 and blow cooling gas 23 to the rotor 3 and a stator winding. A cooling gas 23 is transmitted to a generator end-part region through an inner flow path 24. The cooling gas 23, which has entered into the generator 1, cools the inside of the generator 1 and the mechanical elements in the generator 1 and returns to the cooling devices 14 and 15, through a flow path 29. After the cooling gas is cooled by the cooling device 14 and 15, the cooling gas is again circulated into the generator.
