PURPOSE:To obtain signals whose phase differs by pi/8 from each other by providing a means obtaining 4 sinusoidal wave signals whose phases differ by pi/4 and a means forming exclusive OR signals whose phases differ by pi/2. CONSTITUTION:Two sinusoidal wave signals S1, S2 whose phases differ by pi/2 are formed and signals S'3, S'7 whose phases differ by pi/4 are formed by an adder OP1 and a subtractor OP2, and signals S3, S7 are formed by amplifying the signals S'3, S'7 equal to the signals S1, S5 via amplifiers A3, A7. The signals S3, S7 are added and subtracted by an adder OP3 and a subtractor OP4 respectively, the resulting signal is amplified by amplifiers A4, A8 to form signals S4, S8. They are added and subtracted by an adder OP5 and a subtractor OP6, the resulting signal is amplified by amplifiers A2, A6 to form signals S2, S6 and the operation above is repeated in response to number of required divisions. Thus, the signals S1-S8 are sinusoidal wave signals whose phases differ by pi/8.
