PURPOSE:To facilitate the repair by discriminating the anomaly of a main spring for urging the movable grip of a cable gripper in the cable grip direction individually or in each group, in a cable grip device equipped with the front and rear cable grip groups in pairs for gripping two stripes of supporting cables. CONSTITUTION:A cable gripping device 2 consists of a cable gripper 10 (10a and 10b) for gripping two stripes of supporting cables 1a and 1b by the cooperation with the front and rear grip parts 4a and 4b in pairs, and the first and second cable gripper groups 3a and 3b are constituted by connecting the front and rear grippers in pairs by triangular members 6a and 6b. Each gripper 10 is equipped with a fixed grip 12 formed at one edge of a frame body 11 and a movable grip 17 pivotally supported 18 at one edge of the frame body 11, and urged in the cable grip direction through a rod 22, link 20, etc. by the force of a main spring 29. Further, a spring case 23 for receiving one edge of the main spring 29 is elastically supported by the detecting springs 30a and 30b, and a detecting piece 31 for operating a detection switch on the ground side is pivotally supported at a part of the spring case 23.
