PURPOSE:To prevent adhesion of stripped cover to cutter by releasing the stripped member under a state where the coating is separated from the core wire and dropping the released member. CONSTITUTION:A covered wire W and a cut wire Wa are cut by means of cutters 23, 24 then rollers 16, 17 are rotate reversely to strip the cover Ca at the tip of the wire W halfway, thereafter the rollers 16, 17 are rotated forward to strip the cover Ca at the rear end of the cut wire Wa halfway. Then the cutters 23, 24 are released and the cover Ca and stranding rods 57, 58 are moved to the positions corresponding to pushing protrusions 25, 26. Furthermore, upper and lower movable supporting frames 21, 22 are brought closely each other in order to pressure hold the cover Ca by means of the stranding rods 57, 58 through the pushing protrusions 25, 26. When they are reciprocated linearly in the opposite directions, the cover Ca at the rear end of the cut wire Wa is rotated and the inner exposed core La is stranded. Upon finish of stranding, the stranding rods 57, 58 move to waiting positions and four chips of cover Ca drop down to a collecting box (not shown) and contained therein.
