PURPOSE:To construct a basement while using an existing house as it is by fitting supporting members to the foundation section of the existing house and performing the work such as drilling, piling and concrete placing vie them. CONSTITUTION:Supporting members 4 are inserted into horizontal holes provided near corners of the foundation to support an existing house. The lower portions of the members 4 are drilled, then U-shaped members 9 are fixed beneath the members 4. Driving members 14 are inserted into the members 9, the members 14 are driven into the ground with a jack 19, and the members 9 and the members 14 are fixed with bolts 21. Fitting members 9a are driven in the same procedures, then retaining sheet piles 23 are provided on the outside of the members 9 and 9a. The same work is repeated to construct other wall faces, the space is expanded to the basement hole with the desired area, and concrete walls are placed on the inside. The basement can be constructed while the house is used on the narrow ground.
