PURPOSE:To obtain the subject wire for steel radial tire, etc., and having excellent corrosion resistance and adhesivity to rubber by immersing a brass-plated steel wire and a counter electrode into a solution of a specific triazinethiol derivative and applying a voltage between the wire and the electrode. CONSTITUTION:A brass-plated steel wire 20 is unwound from a winder 1, passed through a wire-feeding roll 10a, degreased with a degreasing apparatus 2 and immersed into an electrodeposition tank 3 furnished with a counter electrode 7 and filled with a solution 8 of a triazinethiol derivative of formula [R is OR' (R' is alkyl, alkenyl, phenyl, etc.), SR', etc.; M is H, Na, Li, K, etc.]. The brass-plated steel wire 20 is surface-treated by applying a voltage between the wire and the counter electrode, passed through a washing apparatus 4 and a drying apparatus 5 and wound with a winder 6 to obtain the objective wire. A bonded composite material of steel wire and rubber can be produced by contacting the obtained wire with a compound containing a rubber, sulfur, zinc oxide and a vulcanization accelerator and heating the compound.
