EFFECTIVE GAS-LIQUID MASS TRANSFER USING POROUS MEMBRANE FIBER

PURPOSE: To selectively separate a desired gas from a gaseous mixture by providing hollow membrane fibers with first and second ends connected respectively to inlet and outlet manifolds beyond the wall of a conduit past the inside of the wall of the conduit. CONSTITUTION: The hole of cloth or another array 1 of the microporous hollow membrane fibers is connected to a liquid inlet 5 by the inlet manifold 6 and is connected to a liquid outlet 8 by the outlet manifold 9. The microporous hollow membrane fibers may be sealed by a method of implanting a flat membrane apparatus to the circumference of the gas conduit 2 by a chemically curable polymer resin, such as epoxy. A liquid inlet tube plate 4 and a liquid outlet tube plate 3 are hermetically engaged with the respective manifolds to admit the liquid of the holes into the holes of the fibers forming the array 1 from the liquid inlet 5. The fluid of the holes is collected by the outlet manifold 9 and is released from the outlet 8.
