BIOCOMPATIBLE DIALYSIS MEMBRANE FOR USE IN HEMODIALYSIS

PURPOSE: To obtain a bicompatble dialysis membrane for hemodialysis having low complement activity by using a mixed polysaccharide ester film of specific constitutional formulas. CONSTITUTION: A compd. which is the mixed polysaccharide ester of acetic acid and/or propionic acid and/or lactic acid and has the constitutional formulas expressed by formulas A and B is molded to the biocompatble dialysis membrane for hemodialysis in the form of a flat film, tubular film or hollow fiber. In the formulas A, B, Cell denotes the skeleton of the polysaccharide molecule without hydroxyl groups; S is the max. degree of substitution; (b) or p=0 to 0.9s; when (b) or p=0 to 0.9 S and (a) is 0, (p) and (b) are larger than 0; when (p) or (b) is 0, (a) is larger than 0. The decrease in the complement fragments C5a may be made to =70% by adopting the constitution described above.
