PURPOSE:To efficiently produce human lysozyme by cultivating a bacterium transformed with a manifestation plasmid containing a human lysozyme gene having a DNA fragment of specific base sequence and containing human lysozyme gene of base sequence. CONSTITUTION:A host cell such as Escherichia coli is transformed with a manifestation plasmid having a DNA fragment of base sequence shown by formula I (underlined ATG is initiation codon and GATGGAGG is liposome bond site) at the 5' end and containing human lysozyme gene of base sequence such as manifestation plasmid pLY-85. The prepared transformant is cultivated according to a well known method in the field of molecular biology, the cultivated cells are ground, and aggregate is concentrated by centrifugation and recovered. The aggregate is solubilized, reduced and regenerated by a reduction-oxidation system to collect active human lysozyme.
