GRINDSTONE EXCHANGING DEVICE FOR VERTICAL GRINDING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To improve working ability and to make the positioning of a grindstone possible without damaging it by providing a grindstone inserting slide which fits into a guide rail, and is movable between both spindle heads and moreover has a positioning part to keep the side of the grindstone at a fixed position at its end. CONSTITUTION:A new upper grindstone 5U is lowered on an upper grindstone holding member 52U of a grindstone slide 51, and then fitted in a radius part of a guide 56 of the member 52U. Next, the grindstone slide 51 is pushed toward a spindle head 1U as it is guided by a guide rail 31 to make a positioning stopper 18b fixed to a face plate 6U of the grindstone 5U abut on the periphery of a spindle flange 3U, and the center of the upper grindstone 5U and its face plate 6U thereby coincides with the center of the spindle. Next, after the upper spindle head 1U is lowered to fasten the grindstone 5U with screws to it, the spindle head 1U is risen to make the upper grindstone 5U separate from the holding member 52U of the grindstone slide 51. The slide 51 is then drawn out of the guide rail 31 to close an upper cover 11U.
