PURPOSE: To obtain a thermally enantiotropic polyester which has excellent mechanical properties and moldability, a low m.p., and a high glass transition point and is suitable for molded items, fibers, films, etc., by incorporating specified amts. of repeating units such as those derived from a bisphenol as a comonomer into the same. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective polyester is obtd. by polymerizing a hydroxycarboxylic acid (A) which forms repeating units represented by formula I (wherein Ar1 is an arom.), a dicarboxylic acid (B) which forms repeating units represented by formula II (wherein Ar2 is an arom.), a diphenol (C) which forms repeating units represented by formula III (wherein Ar3 is an arom.), and a diphenol (D) which forms repeating units represented by formula IV (wherein R1 and R2 are each H, a halogen, etc.; R3 and R4 are each H or a 1-5C alkyl; and X is a 1-5C alkyl) in molar ratios of A/B, B/(C+D), and C/D of (20/80)-(85/15), (1/1)-(0.95/1.05), and (20/80)-(98/2), respectively, by using a phenyl ester, etc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
