PREPARATION AND USE OF CHEMICALLY REACTIVE BARIUM SULFATE HAVING VARIOUS SHAPES AND COMPOSITE PIGMENT CONSISTING OF BARIUM SULFATE COATING BASE

PURPOSE: To obtain barium sulfate which is suitable for a pigment and has chemical reactivity by allowing anions of a specific water-soluble compd. and fine carriers to coexist in an aq. medium and allowing barium ions to precipitate on the carriers by sulfate ions. ;CONSTITUTION: The anions of the water-soluble compd. (example: sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate and sodium thiosulfate) which is precipitatable by barium ions and forms a hardly soluble barium compd. are dissolved in the aq. medium. Further, a fine inorganic or organic carrier material, which is morphologically and preliminarily formed, is suspended in this aq. medium. Then, the barium ions are precipitated by sulfate ions in this aq. medium, and coprecipitated matters thus produced are precipitated on the carrier material, whereby chemically reactive barium sulfate having various morphologies are obtd. Natural, synthetic inorganic substances or fine synthetic polar polymer (example: polyamid fibers and natural baryta) are suitably used as the carrier substances.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
