MANUFACTURE OF TI-NI BASE SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY WIRE STOCK

PURPOSE:To improve the characteristics such as spring toughness of a wire stock by applying dieless drawing to a Ti-Ni base shape memory alloy and applying cold drawing by use of a die by a limited percentage reduction in the final wire drawing stage at least. CONSTITUTION:A Ti-Ni base shape memory alloy stock is made by hot rolling and hot swaging. Dieless drawings are repeatedly performed and a cold drawing of a percentage reduction of =30% by use of a die is also performed in the final drawing stage..Thus, tough Ti-Ni base shape memory alloy wire stock is formed. By that, the characteristics of the wire itself as well as the productivity are improved.
