PURPOSE:To uniformly treat waste water by vertically arranging cloth like contact materials in a waste water treatment tower in many rows over the entire area thereof and supplying untreated water mixture to said waste water treatment tower to treat the same. CONSTITUTION:When an untreated water mixture wherein waste raw water, a part of treated water and air are mixed is forcibly supplied to a treatment tower 1 from the lower part thereof, the supplied water mixture gradually rises in the contact state with the contact material in the treatment tower 1 corresponding to the supply amount thereof to reach the treated water tank 2 provided to the upper part of said tower. During the period reaching the treated water storage tank 2, the substances to be treated such as BOD, COD or the like contained in the supplied water mixture are biologically treated by the activity of activated sludge bacteria deposited on the contact material. By this method, the activation of bacteria is made easy and efficient biological treatment is performed.
