PURPOSE: To shorten the stroke of a roller in the axial direction by coupling the stroke of the inserting shaft of a first roller with a first ink spreader roller through a stroke coupling for reducing the stroke of the ink spreader roller to a specific stroke of the inserting shaft of the first roller. CONSTITUTION: When a second roller 4 is occupying a coupling unit with an inking unit, the narrow web 25 of a swing lever 9 is located between coupling members 23 in section B with the inserting shaft 12 of the roller 4 and the bearing levers 10, 11 being supported on the side wall 32 and a first roller 3 advances a specified stroke a0 in the axial direction without having any effect on the rolling of the roller 4. When a second roller 4' is abutting against the damping roller of a damping unit and occupying the tandem roller position as a double rider roller for the roller 3, no clearance is provided in the axial direction between the coupling face of the members 23 and the wide web 24 of the lever 9 and since the roller 4' is not fixed in the axial direction, the stroke a0 of the roller 3 in the axial direction is transmitted to the inserting shaft 12' of the roller 4'.
