A dry bearing comprises a steel basking plate 5 carrying a sintered layer 4 of copper particles 4a and a covering layer 7a and impregnating layer 7b consisting of PTFE resin and a solid lubricant 6 such as lead oxide. The solid lubricant 6 is in thinly rolled scale-like form and the layer 7a consists of multiple sub-layers parallel to the surface of the sintered layer 4. It has been found that solid lubricant in the form of multiple layers of scales or flakes is much more desirable than similar lubricant in powdered form which is usual in dry bearings. IMAGE
