PURPOSE:To reduce a surge voltage without increasing the number of component parts of a generator by a constitution wherein the opposite-end electrodes of a varistor element are provided on a surface contacting with the positive and negative terminals of the DC voltage output of the generator, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A varistor element 10 for absorbing a surge voltage has electrode plates 11 and 12 for connection to the outside, and the electrode plate 11 is in contact with a terminal 6 and the electrode plate 12 with a frame 1. The varistor element 10 is connected between DC voltage output terminals, while electrodes 13 and 14 are fitted on the end surface of the varistor element. Since th opposite-end electrodes of the varistor element are provided on surfaces contacting with the positive and negative terminals of DC output of a generator respectively as mentioned above, the surge voltage can be reduced without providing a special space for fitting the varistor, and without increasing the number of component parts of the generator.
