PURPOSE:To improve rigidity in the circumferential direction of a side plate by providing the outside rim of the side plate with a recess to make a thin section, in the vane pump wherein a rotary body, provided with a plurality of vanes radially and slidably, is interposed between a pair of flexible side plates. CONSTITUTION:A pair of side plates 9, made by a resin form and having flexibility, is accommodated in the pump accommodating chamber of a pump case 1 and an eccentric ring 9 is pinched between the side plates 6. A rotor 14 is provided in the eccentric ring 9 between both side plates 6 and the rotor 14 is rotated by a motor 34 through a magnetic connection between a driving magnet 38 and a driven magnt 24. Respective side plates 6 of such vane pump are provided with the recesses 50 at the outside rims 6b to make the thin sections 51 and reinforcing rings 52 are povided on the bottom surfaces of the recesses 50 to increase the circumferential rigidity of the thin sections 51. Accoding to this method, the circumferential rigidity of the side plate 6 may be improved.
