PURPOSE:To obtain a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having high silica content can be prepared, easily, by reacting an aqueous mixture containing a silica source having specific BET specific area and H2O/SiO2 ratio, an alumina source, and an alkali source. CONSTITUTION:A suspendible hydrated silica having a BET specific area of =80m2/g and a weight ratio of water to silica (H2O/SiO2) of =3 is prepared beforehand and used as a silica source. The silica source is mixed with an alumina source and an alkali source preferably at molar ratios (SiO2/Al2O3) of about 25-20, (OH-/SiO2) of about 0.10-0.40, and (H2O/SiO2) of about 4-100. The aqueous reaction mixture is sealed in an autoclave, made to react, and crystallized until a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite such as ZSM-5 zeolite, etc. is formed.
