PURPOSE:To recover salts of ethyleneamine efficiently from an organic phase as a highly concentrated ethyleneamine salt with an acid, by extracting an aqueous solution of the ethyleneamine hydrochloride with an aliphatic cyclic ketone in the presence of free ammonia. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution, obtained by reacting ethane dichloride with an aqueous solution of ammonia, and containing ethyleneamine hydrochloride and ammonia is extracted with an aliphatic cyclic ketone or a mixed solvent thereof with another organic solvent, preferably a 3-8C alcoholic type solvent, to extract the ethyleneamine selectively, and the ethyleneamine is then recovered from an organic phase with an acid as a highly concentrated aqueous solution of the ethyleneamine salt. The recovered aqueous solution of the ethyleneamine salt can be concentrated 5 times or more before and after the extraction. EFFECT:The concentration method will not require thermal energy at all.
