JACK PATTERN SELECTION METHOD FOR SHIELD MACHINE

PURPOSE:To enable the automatic and proper selection of a jack pattern by selecting the jack pattern on the basis of the unilateral pressing degree of a shield jack calculated using a control rule obtained from a deviation from a planned line and experience. CONSTITUTION:The necessary number of unilateral pressing degrees preliminarily computed for the number and arrangement of shield jacks is saved as a jack pattern. Even time a shield machine advances by a constant distance along the planned line of a tunnel, horizontal and vertical deviations DH and DV from a reference point 0 is obtained and a ratio of DH and DV to each of the predetermined deviations DHa, -DHa, DVa and -DVa is obtained. According to the ratio so obtained, the optimum unilateral pressing degree of the shield jack is obtained and collated with the saved jack pattern, thereby selecting an optimum jack pattern for making the deviations DH and DV into zeros and controlling the direction of the shield machine.
