PURPOSE:To transfer other information strings at the same time by selecting the quantized bit number of a digital audio signal string to decrease the gain thereby generating an excess communication line. CONSTITUTION:An A/D converter 1 samples an analog signal from a sound source by using a sampling frequency, e.g. 48kHz, quantizes it to 16 bits converts it to a digital and gives the signal to a mixing device 3. The device 3 uses a switch signal from a quantized bit number switching device 2, passes high- order n bits of the signal transmitted from the converter 1 according to a selected bit number (n), allocates other information strings to remaining (16-n) bits and gives the data string to a mixing device 4. The device 4 adds an SOM signal representing heads of musics and a signal * representing the selected quantized bit number to data 1-n and outputs the result to a communication line. A separating device of a reproducing system R separates the signal *from the data string and gives the data string and the signal * to a separator 6 through a different path. The device 6 separates the audio signal string and the information string, the audio signal is D/A-converted (7) and the result is transmitted.
