PURPOSE:To prevent a user from receiving the supply of water of undesirable nature by announcing the end of cleaning to the user upon lapse of the prescribed time after the energization to an electrode restores the original polarity. CONSTITUTION:A cathode chamber and anode chamber are formed in a water tank to which water is supplied from a faucet of a municipal water supply. A cathode is disposed in the cathode chamber and an anode in the anode chamber, respectively. The concn. of alkali ions in the water in the cathode chamber is increased by an electrolytic effect. Cleaning of the electrodes is executed by permitting the energization of the cathode and the anode in reverse directions. A polarity reversing means consisting of a selector switch 11, timers 16, 17 a transistor 18, and a coil 19 operates in response with a signal for requesting the cleaning to reverse the characteristic of the electricity to be supplied to the electrode 12 for the prescribed time. The announcing means consisting of the timer 17, a lamp 21 and a speaker 22 continues to announce that the apparatus is under cleaning for the prescribed timer after the polarity of the energization to the electrode restores the original polarity by the end of the cleaning of the electrode. As a result, the user is prevented from receiving the water of undesirable nature.
