PURPOSE:To efficiently make the forming of ruled lines, by providing a means drawing lines and erasing the lines to a designated direction from the cursor position to the end of a document and processing the means with a processor. CONSTITUTION:A keyboard 1 consists of a character input key 11, a cursor moving key 12 and a ruled line designation key 13. The key 12 moves a cursor displayed on a CRT5 up and down, and right and left by one display cell, and the key 13 consists of a right direction additional key 131 which instructs the drawing of a longitudinal ruled line to the lower end of a document and erase keys 132 and 134 which instruct the erasure of lateral and longitudinal ruled lines. According to the input from the keyboard 1, a processor 2 is stored in a cursor position memory 21 and a document end position memory 22, and displays ruled lines from the position of the memory 21 to that of the memory 22 in the entire areas of a document memory 3 on a CRT5 via a refresh memory 4.
