PURPOSE:To obtain an Fe-Si sintered alloy having magnetic properties equal to or better than those of Fe-Si ingot alloy, by mixing a Si-containing iron alloy powder containing Si in the range of specified contents with a Si-containing iron alloy powder having a melting point higher than the former, and sintering the mixture so that the product has specified amounts of Si. CONSTITUTION:An iron alloy powder containing 46-72% of Si and/or iron alloy containing 13-24% of Si that will become a liqud phase at 1,300 deg.C or below is mixed with a Si-containing iron alloy powder having a melting temperature 1,300 deg.C or above and excellent in the direct current magnetic properties. After the mixed alloy powder is sintered at 1,300 deg.C or below, it is sintered in the liquid phase while the amount of Si is adjusted in the range of 1-10%, so that a high density Fe-Si sintered alloy can be obtained. The density of the obtained sintered alloy is higher and excellent in the direct current magnetic properties as compared with a sintered alloy of a single kind of powder and having the same amount of Si.
