PURPOSE:To obtain a register regulator capable of exact pattern matching by using a system in which register marks provided on the operation and drive sides of each plate are detected, regulating amount of deviation from phase difference with a reference point is calculated, and by correcting the varying phase differences, the regulation amount is calculated. CONSTITUTION:Register marks 24, 25, 26, 27, 41, 42, 43, and 44 are provided on the operation and drive sides of color plates 28 and 40, and from a reference point signal and each mark detection signal, phase difference between the signals are detected by discrimination circuits 59, 60, and 61. The signal representing the phase difference is put in a pulse width detection circuit 73 and converted into numerals, and output signals of counters 66, 67, and 68 are put in an arithmetical unit 69 where correcting amounts in the deivating direction and vertical and bilateral directions are calculated and sent out. Correcting motors 29, 30, and 31 are turned to move the plate cylinders 12 and 13 until the error is zeroed.
