PURPOSE:To improve the handling property of granular iron of a small grain size recovered from slag by binding the granular iron with a binder contg. PVA or polyacrylamide as the principal component. CONSTITUTION:This binder for granular iron recovered from slag contains PVA and/or polyacrylamide as the principal component. The binder is not filled into the voids among the granules of the granular iron by melt bonding but is electrodeposited on the surface of the granular iron to effectively binder the granules. The suitable polymn. degree of the PVA is about 100-5,000 and the suitable mol.wt. of the polyacrylamide is about 5,000-100,000. The binder is added to the granular iron by about 0.1-5pts.wt. of the amount of the granular iron in the form of an aqueous soln. or the like, and they are kneaded and press-molded at ordinary temp. or under heating. Thus, molded bodies of granular iron recovered from slag are obtd. The molded bodies having =about 30kg/cm2 strength and can be conveyed without hindrance by a conventional means.
