PURPOSE:To facilitate the change between a continuous paper medium and a slip paper medium which are used to print, by a method wherein interlock between a platen and a continuous paper medium feeding tractor apparatus is made detachable, and the slip paper is made capable of being handled with the continuous paper medium being engaged with said tractor apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Interlock between a platen 1 driven by a motor 21 and a tractor 2 for feeding a continuous paper medium 35 is constituted so as to be detachable by means of a solenoid-operated clutch. Changeover from the continuous paper medium 35 from a slip paper medium 36 is so performed that after a printed continuous sheet 35a is cut off by means of a cutter 12, the motor 21 is reversed to move the continuous paper medium 35 backward, and when the end thereof is detected by means of a sensor 14, the motor 21 is stopped, and at the same time, the interlock between the platen 1 and the tractor 2 is released, then the platen 1 is rotated forward and the slip paper medium 36 fed along a fixed guide plate 4 and loaded onto the platen 1. On the other hand, in the case where the recording medium is changed over from the slip paper to the continuous paper, the platen 1 and the tractor 2 are connected and interlocked with each other, and the continuous paper medium 35 is fed and loaded onto the platen 1.
