PURPOSE:To perform optimum operation for aeration and to save power consumption therefore by providing a measuring means for the effect of aeration on the treated liquid to an aeration tank to select suitably the number of working aerators by means of the detected signal from the measuring means. CONSTITUTION:In an aeration apparatus 10, one or plural stands 12 are (are) attached to an aeration tank 11 constructed to an elliptic ring shape, and an aerating equipment 1 is disposed on the stand 12. If the variation of the water level in the aerating tank 11 is large, the stand 12 may be a floating type which floats on the liq. surface and moved up and down following the water level. Measuring means 13 for the effect of aeration on the liquid to be treated, such as dissolved oxygen meter 13a, flow rate meter for treated liquid 13b, sludge densitometer 13c, etc. are installed to the aeration tank 11 to enable selection of the working number of the aeration equipment 1.
