PURPOSE:The titled coating solution forming a uniform silica film having neither pin-hole nor crack, obtained by dissolving a hydroxysilane condensate in a solvent containing a specific alcohol. CONSTITUTION:(B) Preferably 1-20wt% hydroxysilane condensate obtained from a silane derivative preferably shown by the formula II (R3 and R4 are 1-8C alkyl, alkenyl, etc.; u is 0 or 1; s and u are integer of 0-4; u+s+u=4) is dissolved in (A) a solvent containing =20wt% alcohol compound shown by the formulaI(R1 is 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C acyl; R2 is 2-4C alkylene; n is integer of 1-4), to give the desired coating solution having a boiling point of 100-500 deg.C.
