PURPOSE:To generate a desired musical tone waveform by providing plural storage means, reading out musical tone waveforms by different sampling frequencies, executing a specific processing, and thereafter, coupling musical tones. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 3 is connected to a ROM 4 and a RAM 5 through a bus 1. In the ROM 4, a program required for a control of the CPU 3 is stored, and in the RAM 5, partial or the whole musical tone waveforms are stored. The CPU 3 reads out a first fundamental musical tone waveform by a prescribed sampling frequency from the RAM 5, and reads out the waveform by a lower sampling frequency than the frequency from the ROM 4. Subsequently, partial or the whole musical tones which are read out of the ROM 4 generate a second musical tone waveform by a musical tone generating circuit, and its waveform is converted to a first sampling frequency converting means. A coupling means couples musical tone waveforms by the two first sampling frequencies, and a desired musical tone waveform can be obtained.
