PURPOSE:To prevent effectively deposition of vinyl polymer scale, by applying a dye and/or a pigment to the inside wall or monomer contact areas of a polymerizer having a specified surface roughness. CONSTITUTION:A mixture comprising 100pts.wt. dye (e.g., Basic Yellow 32) and/ or pigment (e.g., Pigment Yellow 1) and 0.1-2,000pts.wt. inorganic compound (e.g., colloidal silica) is applied to the inside wall of a polymerizer and monomer contact areas of the related devicer (said inside wall and said areas having surface roughness =5mum). One or more vinyl monomers are placed in the polymerizer and suspension-polymerized or emulsion-polymerized in an aqueous medium.
