It has sufficiently high physical strength, and extremely low volume shrinkage in polymerization. Since the compound has high rate of polymerization and curing, its processability is extremely excellent. It has high adhesivity to the teeth. PROCESS:The compound of formula I can be prepared by the dehydrohalogenation reaction of 4-alkyl-1-hydroxyalkyl-2,6,7-trioxabicyclo[2,2,2]-octane of formula IIIwith the unsaturated carboxylic acid halide of formula IV (X is halogen) in the presence of a base such as tert-amine, preferably under atmospheric pressure at room temperature (20-30 deg.C).
