PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage due to an impact, the omission of vibrations, etc. and to improve the frequency characteristics for a tuning fork type crystal oscillator by connecting the upper and lower sides of a primary surface via an (r) face of a crystal for the fork part of the crystal oscillator and forming a simple shape for the etching remainder of the fork part. CONSTITUTION:A Z plate of a crystal is turned round an (x) axis by an optional angle theta, and a tuning fork type crystal oscillator 101 is cut out. An etching remainder of the fork part is formed by an (r) face 102 between a base part 111 and a tuning fork aram 112. An (r) face 113 of the etching remainder is connected linearly from the lower side to the upper side of a primary surface of the oscillator 101 and then tilted by an angle alpha in the thickness direction. Then the etching remainder of the fork part is formed into a simple shape. Thus it is possible to avoid the breakage of an oscillator due to an impact and the unstable frequency temperature characteristics owing to a big omission of vibrations. As a result, the frequency aging variation characteristics can be improved to ensure the stable working of the oscillator 101.
