Lighting assembly with HF supply tracks - uses switched mode converter to provide 50 KHz supply from normal 50 Hz mains supply

A cable (11) carries the 50 Hz mains supply to an 'electronic transformer' (1) which consists of a full wave rectifier and a switched mode 50 kHz converter. The 220 volt, 50 kHz output is fed to conductor rails inside a shielded track (5), which is fixed to the ceiling. A number of different lighting loads can by plugged into the tracks. An incandescent lamp, with a shade (10), pivoted on a connector block (6), uses the supply directly. Halogen lamps (8, 9) can be used with (9) or without (8) internal voltage level converters. Fluorescent lamps can incorporate starter circuits.
