The ship construction which carries e.g. car trailers and containers, has extra carrying capacity by widening the upper deck at least over half the total length, thus enabling, dealing with e.g. RO-RO traffic. Container ship has a double bottom (1), load space (2) and deck (3). Side hull panels (4.5) slope upwards towards the deck, and intersect the water line. Protruding sections (6) provide extra load space for vehicles (11). Whilst space (7) is utilised as ballast tank.
