The feeding equipment comprises a fodder hopper with pipe extending downwards from a bottom outlet. In the pipe are top and bottom plugs shutting it off and connected by a rod. A mechanism actuated by the animal moves the rod so as to shut the pipe at the top and simultaneously open it at the bottom, and vice versa. The top lug (4) shuts off the hopper outlet (2) and the bottom one (7) the lower end of the pipe (3). The actuating mechanism (10) is coupled to the bottom plug.
