Laser beam coupling angle measuring system - is used to test and align fibre-optic transmission system

the system checks the alignment of a laser appts. which is used to produce thermally 'engraved' labels. The appts. consists of a laser, coupling lenses (3), a fibre optic link (5) and a focussing lens assembly (7). During alignment and testing, the beam (2) is reflected by a plane mirror (10), through the coupling lens (3) to the input face (4) of the fibre (5). A photoelectric sensor (11) is moved vertically to detect the edge of the scattered light (12) on the focussing lens assembly. A processor (14) fed by the sensor output (13) is used to control the angular position of the mirror (10) via a positioning mechanism (16). @(10pp Dwg.No.3/6)@.
