Drinking water is purified by reverse osmosis, there being an ion-exchanger upstream of the osmosis unit. The exchanger can be formed by a resin filter impregnated with iodine, emission of the latter being limited. A mechanical filter can be mounted upstream, and there can be a collector tank after the osmosis unit, there being an active carbon filter downstream of the tank.
