The method for finishing heat treatment of products, especially tools made of high-speed steel, in which those products are subjected to the known process of quenching to austenitizing temperatures and held at those temperatures, and then cooled to martensite transformation temperatures, and following volumetric annealing products are optimally tempered several times, consisting in that after the above-mentioned operations selected surfaces of the product are hardened with a laser beam with power density exceeding 150W/mm2, with the relative speeds of the product and the beam exceeding 40 mm/sec.
