A method of modelling actual thermal loads and investigating temperature distributions in the journal of a radial gas bearing, involving measurement of temperatures, characterized in that on the side of the rotor (4) of a heat turbine heat is applied to the immobile hollowed horizontal shaft (1) of the bearing, and simultaneously a thermal load is applied to the bearing along its axis and on its perimeter by blowing air at controlled temperatures and pressures onto the outside surface of a sleeve (2), where measurements are made of temperatures on the outside surface of the shaft (1) and the outside surface of the sleeve (2) and of the speed of rotation of the sleeve (2) using known measurement sensors.3.
